The UPSRTC bus pass savings calculator answers one simple question: does buying a monthly pass actually save you money? Enter your one-way fare, how often you travel, and your pass type — and the tool calculates your exact monthly and annual savings instantly.
Many daily commuters pay per ticket without realising how much a monthly pass could save them. Therefore, this calculator removes the guesswork and gives you a clear, data-backed answer.
How to Use the UPSRTC Bus Pass Savings Calculator
First, enter your current one-way ticket fare. Then set your trips per day and travel days per week using the sliders. Next, choose your pass duration — Monthly, Quarterly, Half-yearly, or Annual. Finally, select your passenger category (General, Student, or Divyang) and click Calculate Savings.
The result shows your monthly cost without a pass, the pass cost, your monthly savings, and your annual savings. Additionally, it tells you the exact break-even point — the minimum number of trips needed each month to justify the pass.

UPSRTC Bus Pass — Who Should Buy It
The UPSRTC bus pass makes strong financial sense for daily commuters. Specifically, if you travel 5 or more days a week on the same route, the pass almost always saves you money compared to buying single tickets.
Students benefit even more. Because the student concession adds an extra 25–50% discount on top of the standard pass discount, the savings are substantially higher. Divyang passengers receive an even larger concession.
However, if you travel irregularly — say, 2–3 days a week — single tickets may actually cost less. As a result, the calculator helps you make the right decision based on your actual travel pattern.
UPSRTC Bus Pass Types and Discounts
UPSRTC offers four pass durations, each with an increasing discount. Consequently, longer passes give better value per month.
- Monthly Pass: 40% off standard fare. Best for those uncertain about long-term travel plans.
- Quarterly Pass: 45% off. Good if your route stays fixed for 3 months.
- Half-Yearly Pass: 48% off. Significant savings for stable daily commuters.
- Annual Pass: 50% off. Maximum savings for year-round daily travellers.
Moreover, passes are valid only on Ordinary and Janrath (AC) buses. Therefore, if you regularly use Volvo or Shatabdi, the pass does not apply to those journeys.
How to Apply for a UPSRTC Bus Pass
Once you confirm the pass saves you money, the next step is applying. Visit the Pass Section at your nearest major UPSRTC bus stand. Carry your photo ID, two passport photographs, and your route details.
For students, additionally bring a bonafide certificate from your institution. The pass is route-specific, so mention your exact boarding stop and destination stop clearly on the form. Processing typically takes 2–5 working days.
